I can say that the dinasour game Hungry Hungry Hippos is one of the most iconic children’s board games that has existed for over half a century and continues to lure children into playing it with the help of cute hippo pieces. This game was then revived and revamped into a dino-themed version by Hasbro Gaming and is now known as Hungry Hungry Hippos Dino Edition.
In this Amazon-exclusive edition, you get all the fun gameplay that was included in the original game but with a Jurassic spin. Instead of hippos, players manipulate baby dinosaur chits that include pink triceratops, green stegosaurus, orange T-rex, and yellow brachiosaurus. The objective continues to be the same – to give your dino as many marbles as possible by breaking the lever and collecting them in the big mouth of the dinosaur.
It is for 2 to 4 players aged 4 and above and is an exciting new version that also assists young children in improving their hand-eye coordination as well as dexterity. Any kid will love to bring down on the dino’s heads and watch them swallow marbles that now come in fun shapes of leaves, volcanoes, and dinosaurs.
The dinasour game board and the pieces are designed in vibrant green, pink, orange, and yellow colors. Parents will be glad to know that the setup is fast and simple, with big heads that are easy to grip for kids and lever mechanisms that are made safe. How to play Hungry Hungry Hippos Dinasour Gamge.
The rules for playing the game of Hungry Hungry Hippos are as follows:
Hungry Hungry Hippos is a simple, competitive board game that has entertained children and families for over 40 years. The goal is to get your hippo more marbles than your adversaries using the head hippo lever to open and shut its large mouth as quickly as possible.
Game Set Up
Lay the game base flat and open so that the shape resembles a square with holes for each hippo. Take each of the plastic hippos and stand them in each of the four corners with their mouths open towards the inside.
Place the marbles neatly in the middle of the base in a fair arrangement to ensure that the hippos can easily access them. When playing your first game, you should use twenty marbles. But you can add more once you get more competitive.
So before starting the game, every participant chooses a colored hippo and stands behind it. Younger kids may require the assistance of an adult when it comes to operating the lever.
How to Play
Players then press the hippo lever as many times as they can to reduce the gap of the hippo’s mouth and grab marbles. continue eating marbles as they roll around the base.
Using the hippo body, a player may capture other hippos or sweep additional marbles in front of his opened mouth. It’s okay and all but don’t go overboard and destroy all the marbles by knocking them out of the base.
The game stops when all the marbles placed in the base are taken. Find out how many marbles are placed in each of the colored pits in the hippo belonging to a player. Most marbles win!
Tips
Push yourself to use only one hand on the lever or attempt to switch them during the exercise.
By this, I mean that for longer games, more marbles should be used in the initial stage. It’s good just don’t go over 40 or they may jam hippo mouths.
Conduct cooperative games wherein each team is given a pair of hippo levers to operate simultaneously.
Fast and fun, a race to the finish with levers that click and hippos that eat and eat and eat! Alter the marble counts for fast-paced and slow games to continue with the games as much as possible.

A guide on how to play Hungry Hippos Dinasour Game in real life
The game called Hungry Hippos is a children’s game where hippo miniature figures attempt to capture as many marbles with large holes in their mouths. It’s silly, simple fun. However, have you ever thought as to how you could apply the manic fun of Hungry Hippos in the real sense? Here is one way of organizing a real-life version of this much-loved game.
What You Need
– 4 people to become the “hippos”:
– 4 little scoops (preferably small plastic shovels)
– A spacious environment that can be either inside the house or outside in the backyard or a park.
– 20-30 play balls, soft foam balls, or inflatable beach balls to replace marbles
– 2 hula hoops
– A whistle or a noisemaker
Set-Up
Ensure that there is an open area free from any interferences and then set the two hula hoops one beside the other at a distance of 10-20 feet. Spread out the balls or “marbles” evenly along two hoops. The four hippo players should stand outside the hoops facing toward the balls. Reward each hippo player with a scoop for swallowing balls.
How To Play
The objective here is to gather as many balls into your hula hoop den using your scoop. When one blows the whistle or gives the start signal, the hippos run in collecting balls chaotically and going back to their burrows, hip bumping as they collide mid-play area like in the game of hopscotch. A player has to go down on their knees or sit to pick the balls because you cannot use your hands. Continue scooping and waddling for a certain amount of time, for instance, 3-5 minutes. After that, count the balls found in each hippo’s den to determine who collected the highest number of balls and is the winner.
More silliness? Players could dress up like the Hungry Hippo game pieces; the boys could wear gray sweatpants and green shirts. Include effects that are relevant to the video such as hippo chewing sounds and marbles scattered everywhere. Try to get as innovative as possible with your own house rules as well. Like the toy game, it is amusingly chaotic; however, this is a live-action. As long as you don’t clash your heads while dancing, go ahead and have fun. Just for the record, if you have a vivid imagination then you can easily turn the Hungry Hungry Hippos scene into reality.
